THEEE WINNER! BEAUTY BADNESS 2026: The Fiercest Hair on Instagram

From 64 elite hair looks, one fiery competitor rose from the ashes as winner of American Salon’s annual elimination tournament, BEAUTY BADNESS 2026: The Fiercest Hair on Instagram.

Stylist/ educator Morgan Crawford’s look “Burn it All Down” racked up 61% of the championship vote over co-finalist Ruhsora Khamreva of Huntington Valley, PA and her colorful, sculptural hair art “Wild Rose.”

Crawford’s championship gains include an Ultimate Bundle and tools from tournament sponsor Better Beauty Hair Extensions (along with their extensions and other swag prizes as a finalist and semifinalist).

She also snags two free passes to the Be+Well | Beauty and Wellness Show (formerly the International Beauty Show), which Crawford calls a full-circle moment.

“My very first trade show was the International Beauty Show in New York,” she reminisces. “I love that show. It just fuels my passion even more for my craft.”

Crawford, of Osterberg, PA, is a color, extensions, and bridal specialist who started taking cosmetology classes at 15. “Before I could drive, I was learning how to do perms!” she laughs.

“I can't remember a time I wasn’t obsessed with anything beauty, Nails, hair, makeup, fashion … but hair took the win for me once I found out all that you can do with it.”

Her passion for education continued as she pursued ongoing training whenever and wherever she could — especially from iconic educators Matt Beck, Sam Villa, and Candy Shaw. “I literally wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today without all three of them.”

Their influence and resources inspire her, as a stylist/ educator at Kelly Kreation Salon in Altoona, PA, to counsel mentees that “every free second, you can always be learning.”

The salon’s owner Kelly Krieger modeled the bracket-smashing look, which Crawford created with keratin-tipped extensions and Danger Jones vivid colors “to try and emulate fire.”

Crawford found the specific curl pattern she wanted in Scandinavian-sourced extensions, which came in “completely white blonde. So I had to fill it before applying the vivid color.”

Crawford then applied custom K-tips made with clear keratin “so even at the root, you wouldn’t be able to tell that wasn’t her natural hair.”

Norris gave Crawford full creative freedom. “I had the vision of creating fire, so I had the color story, but I really waited until that day to see how exactly I wanted to place it,” she recalls.

“As I was creating, I chose to accentuate the finer side of the model’s part by adding more yellow, so when she was flipping or moving her hair, you would see more pops of color.”

Not only was the final look fire, but so was the support Crawford got from her co-workers, husband Cale, and community once “Burn it All Down” made it on the 2026 Beauty Badness bracket.

As soon as Crawford got the news, her esthetician colleague Galen Gábor “said girl, I got you,” she recalls with a laugh. “He came up with all these cool ideas. Between him, Kelly, and my husband, they supported me from the very beginning.

"My salon team, friends, family, my husband — they really rallied and promoted me out in the community.”

Not only did that include daily videos posted to social media, but guerrilla marketing tactics. For every round, the team engaged a local print shop to create hype flyers with a QR code linking back to the Beauty Badness voting page.

Crawford and Krieger posted them around the large, multi-service beauty and wellness salon where they work, and circulated them in public.

“It was a great way to meet people and we got a lot of new clients, too,” Crawford says. “Instead of DoorDashing our coffee, we’d go to a coffee shop with our flyers and QR codes ready to show people.”

Crawford is “in awe” of all 64 looks in the 2026 Beauty Badness bracket, and feels honored to be counted among so many incredible hair artists. “It’s been such a fun experience,” she says.

“I’ve met so many fellow beauty professionals; we just get each other. I loved meeting so many of them, even virtually, from totally different areas. And I really appreciate American Salon for bringing us all together.”

Not only were the final two rounds absolute nail-biters, but they were against hairstylists Crawford particularly admired.

“Her look was so stunning,” Crawford says of championship finalist Khamreva. “And I especially enjoyed my competitor in the round before, Ariel Cubas — he’s wonderful.”

Up next for Crawford is more education, both as an ongoing student and as an instructor.  “My goal is to create a safe space for the next generation of beauty professionals that’s positive, and open for creativity.”

Though she’s thrilled to have won Beauty Badness 2026, Crawford says, her mantra is “the only person you should compete with is yourself ... trying to be better each day.”
