Sam Villa
Sam is the Education Artistic Director for Redken. He has a unique ability to inspire, motivate, and entertain while teaching. His dynamic stage performance, dramatic cutting style, and technical wizardry are the result of his desire to learn. “I believe, that those who teach must never cease to learn,” says Sam. Known for his down-to-earth, refreshing approach to education, Sam has a way of putting people at ease as he shares fresh, exciting design concepts.
Vidal Sassoon became Sam’s key role model after attending his first hair show with his father. Sam credits this event as changing his life. He fulfilled his dream to become a hairdresser and it’s no surprise that Sam went on to win Behind the Chair “Favorite Platform Artist and Educator” at the prestigious Stylist Choice Awards in 2012, 2011 and 2007, and Favorite Overall Educator of the Year in 2015.
Sam now has more than 30 years teaching experience – he joined Redken in 1998. As Redken’s Education Artistic Director, Sam is in constant demand at international and domestic trade shows and in-salon programs where his progressive teaching approach enables stylists to absorb new techniques quickly and for practical use in the salon. Sam is also a lead Facilitator at the Redken Exchange in New York City where he teaches a variety of design and trend sessions to salon professionals from around the world and is part of the team that trains the entire Redken Artist Network worldwide.
