Technical skills may get hairstylists noticed, but building a sustainable career takes more than that.

In its newly launched educational series The Stylist Sessions, BELLAMI Professional explores how reputation, client relationships, business strategy, and a smart approach to social media all play a role in long-term success.

The extension company's professional series offers opportunities to learn from industry leaders who understand that creating great hair looks is only one part of building a lasting career.

Featuring established hairstylists, entrepreneurs, and educators sharing career insights, the multi-episode series explores the business decisions and professional habits that can help stylists grow behind the chair.

Each episode also includes a downloadable worksheet designed to help viewers translate the discussion into practical steps for their own businesses. All are available through a free, credential-verified BELLAMI PRO account.

Episode 1, Behind the Chair & Ahead of the Game, features celebrity hairstylist and entrepreneur Jen Atkin.

As the founder of OUAI, Mane, and Highlight Artists, Atkin’s perspective spans salon work, brand development, and business leadership. She discusses the strategies, client-building approaches, and mindset that have shaped her career.

For stylists navigating an increasingly competitive market, the conversation offers a timely reminder that career growth depends on more than filling appointments. Consistency, relationship building, and a willingness to evolve can be as influential as the work itself.

“I think what separates the winning stylists from those feeling stagnant is that they continue to learn,” Atkin says.

Episode 2, The Content Formula, features educator and content creator Justin Toves-Vincilione.

His discussion examines how stylists can create engaging content, deliver value to their audiences, and use social media to support business growth without allowing content creation to consume their schedules.

With digital visibility playing a growing role in client acquisition and professional recognition, the topic is particularly relevant to stylists balancing hands-on salon work with the demands of maintaining an online presence.

“If you can leave someone feeling that they’ve taken value from your content," Toves-Vincilione says, “you’re already on your way to success."

The series will continue with additional industry guests and conversations.
